Now I have struggled with bands in the past, Mercury Rev and Grandaddy took ages and I’m sorry if this offends some I still can’t get Lampchop’s Nixon or anything by Tindersticks and I know I am probably wrong. I once read that The National sounded a bit like Tindersticks and because I am such an open minded man I never listened to them. It’s good to attempt to write music reviews with such an open mind. 388) Morphine - Cure for Pain
Know the artist like the back of my hand, have heard of them and have a good knowledge of them, vaguely think I know of them, do know them but never actually heard a song or “not got a bloody clue.” Guess what? Morphine are in the not got a bloody clue category. Time for a trawl of the internet and several listens. 387) Doves - Lost Souls
Remember Sub Sub who went top ten with Ain’t No Love as Melanie Williams belted out the song that stormed the charts, well the men behind this track were Jimi Goodwin and brothers Jez and Andy Williams and after this track we didn’t really hear from them again. Unluckily for the band on the Williams brother’s birthday their studio burned down and instead of packing it in they decided to start afresh as Doves. Was this unlucky in the long run?
